Global HealthShare Featured in December Issue of Nature Outlook

Global HealthShare initiative was recently featured in the December 23, 2010 issue of Nature (vol. 468) by New York science writer, Farooq Ahmed. The article entitled “Edible Advice” highlights recent advances in nutritional genomics and efforts to bring the benefits of nutritional genomics to the developing world. Ray Speaks at 2010 ABRCMS Meeting

Ray spoke at the 2010 Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS), 10th Anniversary meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 13, 2010. The title of his presentation was “Diet-Gene Interaction as a Nutridynamical System: Nutritional Genomics at the Edge of Chaos.” Other invited speakers included NIH director, Dr. Francis Collins, poet-author, Maya Angelou, UC Berkeley professor, Carolyn Bertozzi and Hayden Planetarium director Neil deGrassie Tyson. Approximately 3200 students, faculty and educators were in attendance.

GHS Officially Partners with the Government of Bangladesh’s Disease Control Unit (DCU) and the Institute of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of Bangladesh (IACIB)

On November 23, 2010, the Center of Excellence for Nutritional Genomics signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Disease Control Unit (DCU) under Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh and the Institute of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of Bangladesh (IACIB) for the trials and collaborative work on rabies and other projects.
